#2 – Religious Studies Major
The topic of religion is both fascinating and taboo. As a general rule in life, you never want to argue over religion, because some people aren’t favorable towards it. However, if you plan on going in for religious studies, you might want to hold the phone. One of the main problems with this study is that there’s no real demand for it and the starting pay is around $35,000 . Recent graduates aren’t exactly sure where to go to obtain related work or where will hire them.
The unemployment rate overall is a little over 7% but the starting pay is almost 20% less than every other major out there on average. Philosophy is another field that’s tied to religious studies and is also a horrible choice due to low job demand and a horrible starting pay. There’s no way someone with either of these studies can support themselves right off the gate.
